It is undeniable that ‘Brazilian’ Jiu-Jitsu is one of the fastest growing martial arts on the planet today. Everyone, from stay at home Moms to actors are taking up the practice. It’s no surprise either, done properly, Jiu-Jitsu offers some incredible benefits. From an all round body workout, the ability to quickly allow people to switch off from the days stress and a practical self-preservation system (Ummmmm not quit).
You see the thing is, that while Jiu-Jitsu has grown, it has mostly moved away from its roots as a self-preservation art. Today, there are tons of people doing and teaching Jiu-Jitsu who have no idea how to apply their grappling skills in a interpersonal violent encounter. For those Academies that do offer some sort of ‘self-defense class,’ it often resembles something you would have seen back in Feudal Japan, not in the 21st Century.
With my more than two decades of Jiu-Jitsu training, my personal experience as the head doorman outside some of Johannesburg toughest night clubs for several years, along with what I have learned teaching my world famous Crazy Monkey Defense System — I have created a cutting edge, up-to-date approach to Jiu-Jitsu for the Street. I believe first and foremost Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a ‘MARTIAL’ Art. I therefore ensure that all my trainers focus on teaching their students how to successfully defend themselves with their Jiu-Jitsu skills. If you join my Trainers program you will too!
Bottom line, the Monkey-Jits (BJJ) All Terrain Program respects the original intention of Jiu-Jitsu as a self-preservation system – while honoring the roll – and the flow it brings to a person’s life.
