Teach a Jiu-Jitsu program that doesn’t neglect self-defense skills, while honoring the roll, and the flow it brings to a person’s life.
It is undeniable that ‘Brazilian’ Jiu-Jitsu is one of the fastest growing martial arts on the planet today. Everyone, from stay at home Moms to actors are taking up the practice. It’s no surprise either, done properly, Jiu-Jitsu offers some incredible benefits. From an all round body workout, the ability to quickly allow people to switch off from the days stress and a practical self-defense system (Ummmmm not quit).
You see the thing is, that while Jiu-Jitsu has grown, it has mostly moved away from its roots as a self-defense art. Today, there are tons of people doing and teaching Jiu-Jitsu who have no idea how to apply their grappling skills in a interpersonal violent encounter. For those Academies that do offer some sort of self-defense class, it often resembles something you would have seen back in Feudal Japan, not in the 21st Century.
With my more than two decades of Jiu-Jitsu training, my personal experience as the head doorman outside some of Johannesburg toughest night clubs for several years, along with what I have learned teaching my world famous Crazy Monkey Defense System — I have created a cutting edge, up-to-date approach to Jiu-Jitsu for the Street. I believe first and foremost Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a ‘MARTIAL’ Art. I therefore ensure that all my trainers focus on teaching their students how to successfully defend themselves with their Jiu-Jitsu skills. If you join my Trainers program you will too!
Bottom line, the Monkey-Jits (BJJ) All Terrain Program respects the original intention of Jiu-Jitsu as a self-preservation system, while honoring the roll, and the flow it brings to a person’s life.
Now while I believe it is absolutely imperative that my students know how to defend themselves with their Jiu-Jitsu skills, I am also inspired to help them have Jiu-Jitsu show up positively in their life. Except I don’t want to leave this to chance. As such I integrate cutting edge personal development coaching, mindfulness research and performance psychology into my Jiu-Jitsu training approach. This is an integral part of the Monkey-Jits All Terrain Trainers Program as well.
My formative training in embodiment as a tool for personal transformation comes from my extensive background in martial arts – whilst my academic rigor in delivering sound research based embodied solutions – comes from my several years of research as a social scientist, and doctoral researcher. ALL OF THIS, is part of the Monkey-Jits experience. Through my extensive background, you get to offer a ground breaking modern Jiu-Jitsu experience, that not only will allow your students to effectively defend themselves, but equally important, give them the skills to take on the Jiu-Jitsu of everyday life more skillfully.
I call this the Flow-Jits approach: where through the ‘roll’ personal mastery is inspired. In doing so, and what you will learn as a Trainer in Monkey-Jits, is that we purposively teach students how to keep calm, focused, and resilient on the mat, which in turn will allow them to do the same in life!
I want to make the Monkey-Jits (BJJ) All Terrain Trainers Program accessible to the right people. Rather than having a set price on joining and representing the program, I have opted for a sliding scale depending on where you live, and on your current financial status. I fully recognize as someone residing in South Africa, that the economy in India is very different to the economy in America.
Admittedly while running my trainers programs, coaching seminars around the world, and developing online courses is how I make a living — money is not as important to me as having the right people in my team. I want aspiring and current martial arts instructors to join the Monkey-Jits (BJJ) Trainers Program who believe that Jiu-Jitsu should be an experience that focuses on self-defense, while inspiring students to become more through the art. If this is you, and if you want to help coach your students to take the lessons from the mat positively into the world — I encourage you to apply at the bottom of this page. I will respond to you with personalized available options for you to join my amazing global Team of Trainers if your application is successful.
The number #1 benefit is that you get access to me and some of the best modern martial arts trainers in the world. Outside of over two decades of training, researching and developing the Monkey-Jits (BJJ) program — I have real world experience in dealing with interpersonal violence. I was the hand-to-hand combat instructor for my unit during military service, and over the past decade I have taught my Crazy Monkey Defense System to special force military operators, law enforcement teams, and close protection groups all over the world — and now my Street-Jits approach as well.
In the same time, I completed my undergraduate work in Psychology. I earned a Masters Degree in leading innovation and change. My Doctoral research has been in the field of mindfulness, and its application to leadership performance. In addition I have completed dozens of other qualifications, from Positive Psychology Coaching to Character Strengths Training.
Why am I telling you this?
Because Monkey-Jits, beyond it’s physical benefits, is grounded in solid, up to date research in performance psychology.
